ABOUT JULIA

Foggy park pathway lined with towering evergreen trees and glowing vintage lampposts

Julia Whitlock writes American Gothic fiction: atmospheric novels of mystery and memory set in America’s past, from Gilded Age lakeshores to the hard years of the Depression and the Second World War. Her stories are drawn to old houses, still water, and the secrets families keep across generations.

When she isn’t writing, Julia is usually in her garden, where the vegetables outnumber the flowers, though not by her own choosing. She is passionate about protecting the environment and the wildlife that shares it, an interest that finds its way into the landscapes of her books. A mother of three, she treasures quiet mornings and a good story.

Julia loves hearing from readers and answers her mail personally. You can reach her through the Contact page.

The Cartographer’s Widow, the first novel in The American Gothic Collection, is available now on Kindle.
